Genie Bartlett, APRN, FNP

Genie received her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Oklahoma University, and then worked in several different pediatric and maternal/child settings. She was a professor of nursing for many years, teaching pediatrics and maternal/child health, then returned to the University of Texas at Tyler and Texas Tech University to earn her Masters degree in nursing and become a Family Nurse Practitioner. After three years in Family Practice she transitioned into Pediatrics. Caring for children has been her life’s work, and one of the things that brings her great joy and satisfaction.

She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the Texas Board of Nurses and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) and is Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified.

Genie has been married to Jim Bartlett for over 25 years.  They have 3 children, a boy and 2 girls, and 5 grandchildren, 4 boys, ages 8 – 17, and 1 girl, sweet Molly who is under 2 years old.  Being a mom is wonderful, but being a grandmother is awesome!

Genie’s love after family and work, is travel.  She has traveled extensively in the United States and Europe, and has also gone on multiple mission trips, providing medical care, constructing homes and churches, and taking God’s word to people in the United States, Mexico, and Central America.

I’ve often said that being a nurse is not what I do, but what I am.  I heard God’s call to be a nurse my whole life. My first memory is when I was 2 years old. My brother got a medical kit, and I got a doll.  I took his kit and gave him my doll.
